Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Food here is still amazing even after 20yrs. Fresh, tasty and timeless. Highly recommended, the fried prawns is a must, the sauce for the fried fish is divine, fish meat is nicely sliced and thick, sooooo good halpps everything else is Yums nonetheless. However the only downside is get ready to be bugged by plenty of flies it’s not specific to the restaurant but more so because of the area but. Still worth it for the food"
"Enjoy a delectable crab porridge! There is a long-standing establishment that has been passed down through four generations. Their specialty is crab porridge, which is incredibly fresh and flavorful! Additionally, the white seared octopus and steamed white pomfret are must-try dishes, offering a delectable Teochew culinary experience!"
"Ordered 2 pax mixed seafood porridge without crab. Came in very big portion, 4-5 people shared along with other dishes. The octopus was nice with the chilli sauce that looks typical but had a little nice twist. It was spicier than it looks. The prawn roll was alittle underwhelming for me but I really enjoyed the bean paste sweet potatoes!"
"Came here for the seafood porridge. Seafood was very fresh. We added minced pork to the porridge. It was very tasty. The stir fried siew yoke was good too. Didn't quite enjoy the spring roll."
"A warm classic in Nibong Tebal known for its home‑style zhu char and fresh seafood. We tried the crab porridge and a few other mains, all cooked well and comforting. Service was friendly and efficient, making dining easy. The ambiance is simple but welcoming. A good choice for hearty, everyday local meals."
"Sunday 11.30am We were the first customers for the day. That’s good bcos the queue built up pretty soon after that. There is a sign in the restaurant asked ng patrons to be patient bcos there is only one chef. Order was taken and food arrived 20minutes after. Seafood was fresh and tasty. But expected more out of the crab porridge. Price was reasonable. Seating is limited inside the non Aircon restaurant. They have tables ready to seat you al fresco. Might come back again but there are a few other places to try out within this town."
"We came to Nibong Tebal for seafood lunch after reading good review about this shop which is facing the main road. The people here mainly speak Teochew. The steam pomfret fish is quite big and very fresh from the sea. The crab is also big and fresh, cooked together with meehoon taste good, recommended by online review. Some of the well-known dish pictures are put on the wall for reference. May need to wait for a table during weekend lunch time."
"We ordered poached baby octopus (2 plates, big portion), stir-fried sweet potato leaves with garlic, and a rice. Waiting time was not long, less than 30 minutes. The steamed octopus is highly recommended. Very fresh, sweet, and crunchy — hard to find this texture elsewhere. The fried garlic oil and peanut chilli pair very well with it."
